Egypt national broadcaster ERTU has proposed a national authority for media.

The initiative comes from the broadcaster’s board of trustees, which was set up in My by Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf. The proposal suggests the formation of a national authority to promote Egypt’s cultural role after the political upheaval early in 2011, and to underline the country’s ‘constitution, parliamentary elections and rules for dealing with the army and police’.
