SLLFX (Sound, Light & Laser FX) hosted a 24-hour livestream with esteemed dubstep DJ Shiverz Da Butcher from, which was broadcast via The Dub Rebellion’s YouTube channel in collaboration with SoundShield and Subtle Sounds during late September.

DJ Shiverz plays 24-hour livestream set with SLLFXIt was an idea that originated from a viral Tweet earlier in the year – the marathon livestream was staged via SLLFX’s livestream studio and proved to be a unique project for the SLLFX team. ‘The livestream was a fantastic event for us to be involved in,’ explains SLLFX MD, Adam Turbill. ‘Not only was it a continuous 24-hour broadcast, which is a feat in itself for everyone involved, but it was the first ever to be attempted in the dubstep scene.’

Having worked with Shiverz and his team previously, SLLFX was asked to operate the livestream, using its extensive inventory of equipment and experienced team to keep the broadcast running for the entire 24-hour period. Two Novastar VX4S processors and a Roland V-40HD video mixer managed what was being seen onscreen, while the sound was taken care of with an Allen & Heath SQ-5 mixing desk, JBL monitors and an L-Acoustics SB28 subwoofer. For his part, Shiverz worked with a Pioneer DJM mixer and four CDJ players.

‘It’s a testament to the brands we work with that our equipment can withstand such a long period of continuous use,’ Turbill reflects. ‘Everything in our inventory is of the highest quality and our team has vast experience using the gear across many different applications.’

SLLFX’s livestream services have become invaluable to many of its clients since lockdown began in the UK in March. With live events cancelled or moved online to accommodate ever-changing restrictions, the dedicated streaming studio has become a popular and vital resource.

For Turbill and the rest of the team at SLLFX, this particular project presented a host of unique challenges that had to be overcome. ‘The main challenge with the 24-hour broadcast was keeping it on air and making sure the content was engaging for that amount of time,’ he continues. ‘Our staff were brilliant – they stayed alert and maintained the highest standards throughout.

‘We are over the moon that Shiverz and his team placed their trust in us to deliver such a big project,’ Turbill concludes. ‘It was a great experience for everyone involved and we are proud to have played a part in it.’
