One of Melbourne’s most prestigious inner city buildings, the Trak Centre was once home to the successful Silvers nightclub – which became the Toorak Lion Pub and the the Sugar Lounge. Most recently, the space beneath has undergone a major transformation and launched as the uber sophisticated Trak Live Lounge Bar.

Trak CentreThe present site of the Trak Centre used to house one of Australia’s oldest cinemas. The cinema was shut down many, many years ago and remained quietly dormant underneath the Sugar Lounge until very recently. With large amounts of money directed towards into getting the venue into its current state, the fit out is world class –stunning bars and VIP sections are cleverly designed and the venue is all eye candy.

As a result, the Trak Bar has quickly become one of Australia’s key live club venues. The venue’s five bars merge seamlessly into an elegant main space that leads to a full sized auditorium. The 600 free standing capacity of the venue makes it well suited for rock gigs, club parties and intimate shows. With this and high-profile artists now performing every week, the need for accurate monitoring was crucial. Trak’s Venue Production Manager Paul Sherrit reckoned a DiGiCo SD8 was the best choice of desk, and commissioned Soundcorp Melbourne to handle its installation.

‘The SD8 is just so configurable,’ he says. ‘t makes things really simple when you constantly have different artists coming in who have a range of requirements for their monitoring mixes. I’ve yet to find something it can’t do.’
