UK-based designer and manufacturer of radio microphone and communications systems, Audio Wireless, has launched of a range of wireless systems for ENG, location sound recording and general broadcast applications.

Audio Wireless wireless systemsDesigned specifically to deliver operational convenience for international working, the range initially comprises three models – including a small belt-pack transmitter and matching diversity receiver, as well as a belt-pack in-ear monitoring receiver for production crews on location or in the studio.

Comprising the Audio Wireless AWT-1 Transmitter, the AWDR-1 Diversity Receiver and the AWMR-1 Monitoring Receiver, the new systems all feature digitally switchable RF front-ends, with frequency-switching bandwidths up to 120MHz. These are programmed via each model’s backlit LCD and adjustable across the 470-790MHz range. Smooth, rugged aluminium cases are combined with a choice of connectors, as well as internal and external powering options. Common to all models is their unique battery compartment design, with a captive, easy-twist cover. This features a click-stop mechanism to provide positional feedback, enabling quick and simple battery changeovers by feel alone.

Audio Wireless conducted an extensive R&D programme into analogue and digital systems in order to create the innovative new range, headed up by renowned radio microphone guru Aldo Hakligil, contributing more than 28 years’ expertise to the overall team.

‘We assembled a very talented team to help develop our new systems, including analogue and digital audio designers, as well as RF and software engineers, with specialisations across many areas,’ says Hakligil. ‘Equally importantly, we canvassed a considerable number of sound recordists, broadcasters and hire companies, listening to their advice and feedback to ensure that our products embody the optimum mix of audio quality, RF stability and practicality, balanced with sensible pricing. All the products have been designed to offer exemplary audio quality, together with the levels of operational convenience needed for global operation. Our key objective was to create a new system that could effectively address the widespread problems of over-crowded frequency spectrum and the non-harmonised frequency allocations prevalent in many territories – we are confident that our first three products will set a new trend for operational flexibility as well as audio performance.’
