Test and measurement specialist GRAS Sound & Vibration has announced the 40PO-L and 40PO-H microphones with EQset technology – new production line microphones that facilitate consistent and reliable audio testing for smart devices, ensuring high-quality results across different locations.
With a frequency response of up to 40kHz (suitable for High-Res compliance and ultrasonic applications) and a new capsule design, the microphones claim improved accuracy in test results. These advances promise elevate audio quality in global manufacturing, making product consistency and adherence to both industry standards and customer-specific requirements, indispensable for maintaining trust, consistency, and profitability between audio brands and manufacturers.
GRAS’ EQset technology helps manufacturers to achieve high quality and test regime compliance. With built-in digital signal processing, each EQset microphone has the same fixed sensitivity and flat frequency response across all frequencies, making it insensitive to environmental factors and providing consistent results across different locations.
It also reduces errors and simplifies calibration processes to ensure compliance or product specifications. Additionally, using EQset microphones allows for seamless replacement without signal chain adjustments, ensuring production lines run smoothly and on schedule with no downtime. GRAS EQset mics, therefore, are a cost-effective test option that reduces production costs without compromising quality or compliance with product specifications.
While the 40PO-L is designed for low sound pressure level measurements, the 40PO-H can be used for measuring higher sound pressure levels. Specifically, the dynamic range of 40PO-L spans 30dBA up to 128dBpk, while the 40PO-H ranges from 36dBA to 138 dBpk. The new mics are TEDs compliant – a first in EQset microphones.
The ultrasonic capabilities of these new microphones make them well suited to Hi-Res audio testing, harmonic and intermodulation distortion tests, and high-frequency drivers. They can also test ultrasonic noise interference measurements, and smart device ultrasonic applications such as presence, motion, and distance detection.
‘With GRAS’s commitment to constant innovation, improvement and a drive to always be at the forefront of test and measurement technology, the release of our new microphones was a natural progression,’ says GRAS Product Manager, Santiago Rayes. ‘Once again, we demonstrate our dedication to seeking new, cost-efficient, and highly accurate testing solutions, breaking the mold of what anyone thought possible for this type of sensor. The 40PO-L and 40PO-H bridge the gap between cost-effective production line microphones and the classic measurement microphones we all know.’
