Plugin Alliance partner Unfiltered Audio has released the Sandman Pro v1.1 Delay.
Billed by its creator as ‘the delay of your dreams’, Sandman is a delay plug-in with a narcoleptic bent – its Sleep mode freezes the delay buffer to create loops and grains that can be re-pitched, down-sampled, played in reverse, treated with noise and modulated. Very short delay times allow its use as a flanger, percussion resonator, stutter generator or wavetable synthesizer. Sandman also produces traditional echo and stereo ping-pong effects, enabling delay times to range from standard slapback to extremenly long repeats.
Sandman Pro also offers elaborate effects, including stereo pitch shifting, reverse echoes and frozen delays, along with extensive modulation options. With the addition of a new mode for integration with Roli’s Lightpad Block 5D Touch control surface, users can now take advantage of the hardware’s pressure-responsive design for an unprecedented level of real-time control over multiple parameters. The modulation system boasts eight freely-assignable and fully-automatable modulators with drag-and-drop patching to each of Sandman Pro’s controls.owners already hooked on this truly transmogrifying time machine.
Sandman Pro supports seven delay modes – Classic Tape, Modern Instant, Pitch Shifter, Glitch Shifter, Multi-Tap, Reverse and No Echo – each with dedicated controls and a maximum delay time of 16 minutes. Classic Tape mode offers echo, loops and grains with virtual tape saturation or wow and flutter, while Multi-Tap gives 16 simultaneous delay lines upon vocals or guitar solos for deep doubling or stadium-sized echo effects. The Reverse mode can create click-free echoes, and Modern Instant mode modulates delay time without producing any pitch artifacts. The dual-mono Pitch Shifter mode is well suited to creating harmonies, classic shimmer effects and metallic textures, where Glitch Shifter offers more funky pitch shifting. Modulating the Sleep function in No Echo mode takes Sandman Pro into stutter and extreme glitch effects.
Modulation options cover low-pass and high-pass filters; Feedback, X- Feed and Diffusion for thick delay tails or reverbs; an M/S mode, transforming it into a mid-side encoder; an M/S Width control adjusting the wet signal’s stereo field from mono to stereo to super-wide stereo; Soft Clip for providing analogue-style saturation at its inputs and outputs; and a waveform display for visualising control in real time.
Sandman Pro v1.1 is shipping in AAX Native, AU, VST2 and VST3 formats for Mac OS-X (10.8-10.12), Windows (7-10) and Pro Tools (10.3.10 or higher) vis the Plugin Alliance for US$99.
