Outboard/Plug-ins

Slate Digital has announced the SD-D Chorus and Custom D Chorus modules for Virtual Mix Rack, introducing modulation effects to its Virtual Mix Rack (VMR) line-up.

Slate Digital Chorus bundle in VMRVirtual Mix Rack is Slate Digital’s flagship mixing plug-in, offering more than 40 analogue modules in a single intuitive digital workspace. In late 2024, the company released VMR Version 3.0, an update that introduced a new macro system, a comprehensive preset browser, external sidechain, individual module gain staging, and interface scaling.

SD-D Chorus is a faithful recreation of a Roland chorus from the 1970s, featuring the four modes from the original hardware, and allowing users to also experiment with combinations of the presets for greater sonic possibilities. The intensity of the effect can be adjusted, too, something that wasn’t possible with the original hardware.

Custom D Chorus, meanwhile, takes the classic tone of the original Roland hardware and gives an unprecedented level of control over the resulting signal. Users can adjust the depth, delay and rate of the LFO to taste, adjust or bypass the built-in high-pass filter, adjust the shape of the LFO or randomise it for a unique result.

‘SD-D Chorus and Custom D Chorus are two welcome, long-awaited additions to the Virtual Mix Rack family,’ says Slate Digital CEO, John Bastianelli. ‘We’re excited to bring such a beloved effect to a mixing tool that has proven vital to so many user workflows.’

SD-D Chorus and Custom D Chorus are available now for Slate Digital All Access Pass and Complete Access Bundle subscribers. They are also available for purchase as a bundled perpetual licence at US$149.
