Cedar Audio has announced Forensic Enhance, the latest in its line of AAX/VST/AU plug-ins for forensic audio professionals. This replaces the Trinity Enhance plug-in, and has been renamed to reinforce the message that it’s designed for audio forensics rather than conventional postproduction or other pro audio applications.
Forensic Enhance retains the ‘simple but effective voice’ enhancement and GUI that makes it possible for novices to obtain results as quickly and easily as experts.
Available as an AAX, AU, VST2 and VST3 plug-in that is compatible with all of the common audio and video playback and editing platforms, Forensic Enhance uses the advanced filtering developed for the CEDAR Trinity surveillance system, and comprises four related processes that suppress noise and enhance speech to increase listenability and intelligibility.
‘We live in a world where an increasing amount of evidential material is being recorded every day, much of it captured on smart phones, CCTV systems and similar devices,’ the manufacturer says. ‘These recordings tend to have one thing in common: background and environmental noise reduces the audio quality, making the wanted speech hard to listen to or even unintelligible. To improve this, Forensic Enhance allows even novice users to clean difficult material to a standard that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago.’
Forensic Enhance is authorised on both Mac and PC by an iLok dongle or using iLok Cloud. Existing users can upgrade but, since Forensic Enhance is a new product, should contact Cedar Audio for instructions to decommission the earlier product and install the new one.
