Lindell Audio has released the LiNTec Vintage Program Equalizer, revisiting a studio classic with a vintage workflow and a solid-state design over the tube circuitry of its Pultec inspiration.

Lindell Audio LiNTec Vintage Program EqualizerBilled as a Vintage Program Equalizer, LiNTec’s lean, old-school design offers a shared (five-step switched 20Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz, 100Hz,150Hz) Low Freq selection control for the associated boost and attenuation controls, alongside independent (11-step switched 1Hz, 1.5Hz, 2Hz, 3Hz, 4Hz, 5Hz, 6Hz, 10Hz, 12Hz, 14Hz, 16kHz) High Freq and (five-step switched 4Hz, 8Hz, 12Hz, 16Hz, 20kHz) attenuation selections with a shared Bandwidth control. Detented potentiometers ensure easy recall and matching when used in a stereo pair, while its filters are based on classic Pultec EQP-1A filters, complimented by Lindell Audio’s own gain structure.

The manufacturer says that its deign ambitions could not met by tubes, including a faster transient response; lower noise; better unit-to-unit matching for stereo pairing (matched by hand to within 0.25dB of each other) and the requirement for replacements.

The op-amp in the LiNTec design is the same OPA-171 – Lindell Audio’s take on the vintage Melcor 1731 op-amp – used in the 7X-500VIN Vintage Edition 500-Series compressor and 77X-500 500-Series stereo compressor. Custom-designed transformers are also central to making the LiNTec Vintage Program Equalizer design.
