Waves Audio has released Voltage Amps, a collection of guitar and bass amp plug-ins optimised for instant tone gratification. The newly designed amp models offer a palette of classic and modern sounds, with more that 400 presets from producers and engineers for Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, Doja Cat and Panic at the Disco!, as well as signature presets from metal legend Dave Mustaine and producer Butch Vig (Nirvana).
Beginning with Clean, Overdrive or Lead characters for each amp and choosing from six matched cabs, the tone is then shaped with the Gain, Cab Tone, Tone Stack and Room controls. A Focus control matches the amps’ tone to a user’s individual guitar and pickups. Switching amps in the amp selection section of the GUI, and the newly loaded amp will preserve all the settings from the previous amps for easy comparison.
Voltage Amps includes five guitar amps and two bass amps. Each of the guitar amps is based on classic American and British amps, ranging from clean to crunchy, jangly to high-gain aggressive, while the bass amps range from smooth vintage to full-spectrum modern.
The guitar amps are designed and internally part-matched to deliver a distinct, familiar character presented as Silverado (a classic American smooth-sounding guitar tones with fat drive channels, Arena (stadium-rock tone of the 1970s-80s with British crunch, Royal-X (British chime and sweetness from vintage Beatles to modern-day indie), Blue Flame (modern boutique high-gain) and Aggro (high-gain beast). The bass amps are include Vintage Velvet (velvety and warm) and Dark Mass (modern full EQ spectrum plenty of punch).
More than 100 complete plug-in FX chains have been made by top artists specifically for Voltage Amps, available in Waves AI-powered StudioVerse. Additionally, Voltage Amps can be used to add character to drum loops, presence and power to synth leads, grit to kicks and saturation to vocals.
