Recording-Mixing

Pairing the subtle detail of cloth Foley with a fully isolated ATV vehicle recording session, Boom Library’s 26-06 update adds texture, movement and vehicle detail to the Boom One volume.

Boom One updateWith 500 new sound files, 2,500-plus individual sounds, and 10GB of professional-grade content, this collection includes more than 400 files recorded with a wide variety of clothing items, such as nylon and chino trousers, fleece, denim, swimwear and neoprene wetsuits. The core sets focus on structured handling actions such as dropping, folding, and picking up, as well as wear actions involving putting on and taking off garments at various speeds.

The vehicle Foley documents the operation of a vehicle’s engine without any ambient background noise, requiring an isolated environment to capture. To achieve this, the Boom team took a Yamaha Grizzly 125 to a remote mountain village to capture clear engine and motion cycles, away from traffic, wind, and other interference.

The majority of the manoeuvres were recorded from three different onboard viewpoints: the driver position, the engine, and the exhaust. The package is completed by a full set of offboard passes, these covering the entire vehicle movement for use in editing within a scene.
