Novation has issued the first major firmware update for the Launch Control XL 3 control surface, adds compatibility for futher DAWs, enhanced control for external hardware and deeper customisation.
The v1.1 firmware brings new capabilities for users working in HUI-compatible DAWs and those controlling external hardware, as well as numerous quality-of-life upgrades designed to improve all supported workflows.
The v1.1 update includes Mackie HUI support: Launch Control XL 3 now supports additional DAWs including Pro Tools, Reaper, and Studio One. It also has expanded Midi routing, with ith flexible USB-to-DIN Midi pass-through to assist configuration of hybrid set-ups with merged control data and channel filtering. Encoder response can now be adjusted for more precise, expressive control, and faders can be set to ‘pick up’ their previous position rather than immediately jumping to a new value when moved, enabling smoother transitions when mixing or performing.
Fader preview now allows pressing Shift and moving any fader to display its parameter value on Launch Control XL 3’s OLED screen, while faster Custom Mode selection can now be selected by holding down the Mode button, selecting a mode, and releasing it.
