Recording-Mixing

Tascam has updated the firmware underlying its Sonicview Digital Recording and Mixing Consoles to v2.2, bringing extended functionality including enhanced Ember+ compatibility with centralised, remote-controlled system operation across a variety of applications.

Tascam Sonicview Consoles v2.2Forthcoming integration with Mixing Station App (expected in summer 2025 on App Store and Google Play) will allow performers to control their own monitor mixes from iOS or Android devices in live music environments, reducing reliance on FOH or monitor engineers and helping each musician fine-tune own their.

The firmware update also provides a Routing Matrix screen superseding what previously had to be done from a standardised input/output tab. The new screen is a quick graphic that enables users to readily view each channel along with their listed input and output.

Another noteworthy benefit of v2.2 firmware is an enhancement to the User Key. Sonicview User Keys have been extended/expanded using the LCD screen for up to 64 additional keys in addition to the original 18 User Keys, providing greater flexibility and more options to program functions that are frequently used. Additionally, the new User Defined Control Library feature allows users to store and recall multiple User Key, GPIO and footswitch configurations, making it easy to switch between custom set-ups for different workflows or users.

Version 2.2 also brings Port to Port Direct Routing to the Sonicview consoles, enabling users to establish signal direction connecting between the Input Router and the Output Router on the Sonicview consoles, allowing a greater number of input/output ports to be used. A further new feature is the Added Input Source A/B enabling users to add two input sources to one module while switching between the two. This capability is of particular benefit when the Sonicview console is used in a broadcast environment. In total, more than 20 new features have been added to improve workflow and users’ operational experience.

Key features:

  • Expanded Ember+ compatibility.
  • New Routing Matrix screen.
  • Up to 64 additional User Keys via extended LCD functionality.
  • User Defined Control Library.
  • Port-to-Port direct routing.

‘One of our biggest priorities with Sonicview has always been listening to our users and delivering the features they ask for,’ says Tascam Product Specialist, Sean Daily. ‘With v2.2 firmware, we have added powerful new tools that benefit professionals across live sound, theater, broadcast and so many other environments.’
