Based on the CC8 microphone, Austrian Audio has developed the CC8-SC – the company’s second pencil mic, this time with a supercardioid polar pattern instead of a cardioid.
Small diaphragm microphones like the CC8-SC are often used as spot-microphones in ensembles or for other applications where a high degree of focus on the sound source is desired.
The CC8-SC uses the OCC7 true condenser capsule inspired by the CK1 capsule. This capsule combined with the transformerless circuitry delivers a tailored frequency response. The microphone can handle extremely high sound pressure levels (up to 155dB SPL), which in combination with a low self-noise of only 13dB (A) results in a highdynamic range. Fast transients and spatial information are captured in detail and without distortion.
In addition to its sound characteristics, the CC8-SC has an extremely robust housing, with features such as pad and high-pass filter switching built-in.
Key features:
- True condenser technology.
- High-precision supercardioid pattern.
- Transformerless design.
- Best-in-class off-axis response.
- Out-of-the box matching with any other CC8-SC due to factory calibration (±0,5dB @1kHz).
- Rugged metal housing, cap and grille.
- Switchable high-pass filter (60Hz, 120Hz).
- Switchable Pad (0, -10dB, -20dB).
The CC8-SC will be made available at a cost of US$599/€499/£449, and comes with OCH8 Mic clip 18mm, CCW8 Windscreen and a carry case.
