The PreSonus Revelator USB microphone promises ‘polished, professional-sounding results’ for vlogging, podcasting, voiceovers and general home studio use. To this end, it offers eight presets, an easy-to-use loopback audio, and selectable polar patterns.
Revelator uses the same EQ and compression algorithms found in the company’s StudioLive Series III mixers. The eight professionally crafted presets are designed to deliver ‘radio sound’ at the press of a button, through a combination of EQ and compression. Eight additional user presets are provided to make a Revelator sound that’s all your own using the full StudioLive Fat Channel controls available in Universal Control. There is also a selection of voice effects and the ability to store up to four presets to be instantly selectable via the mic’s Preset button.
Revelator also features two stereo streams for loopback audio so you can quickly and easily conference in Zoom calls, record gameplay, or showcase the audio in a YouTube video while adding commentary. Two streams for loopback audio mean that the audio from two different applications on a computer can be mixed and recorded, along with voice, at the same time using the interface in Universal Control. Built-in monitoring and an onboard headphone amplifier allows monitoring of a performance mix in real-time.
Three pickup patterns provide flexibility – a cardioid pattern for voiceovers or performances where only one voice should be captured, a figure-8 pattern with the mic positioned to pick up the interviewer on one side and the guest on the other, and an omnidirectional pattern for roundtable discussion or recording multiple instruments.
With its bus-powered, USB C-compatible design, Revelator can be connected to a Windows or macOS computer and Android or iOS tablet, and it comes with PreSonus’ Studio One Artist recording and production software and Studio Magic Software Suite. An integrated desktop stand with built-in cable management and elegant aesthetic keeps your broadcast space clean.
