Loudspeaker Drivers

Lavoce Italiana has launch three large-format 1.4-inch compression drivers, reinforcing its pursuit of advanced HF offerings for professional sound reinforcement and OEM system design.

The DN14.250T, DF14.250T and DF14.300LT have been developed by Lavoce’s Italian R&D team based on a next-generation HF design platform, combining FEM-optimised motor, phase plug and diaphragm geometries. All models are engineered using proprietary advanced modelling techniques to deliver high output, extended bandwidth and low distortion, while ensuring production consistency and reliable real-world performance.

Lavoce DN14.250TThe DN14.250T and DF14.250T add another flavour of 1.4-inch exit compression driver to Lavoce’s range of large-format devices, both featuring a 2.5-inch edge-wound copper-clad voice coil and titanium diaphragm and surround. They offer 160W programme power, 108dB sensitivity across a 1000Hz–20kHz frequency range and a 1.2kHz recommended crossover point.

The DF14.250T employs a ferrite magnet structure, while the DN14.250T uses a neodymium motor, offering system designers flexibility in balancing performance, weight, and cost according to application requirements.

The DF14.300LT is a 1.4-inch exit ferrite compression driver developed directly from Lavoce’s flagship DF14.300T driver, designed to preserve the electro-acoustic performance, while rationalising selected construction elements to deliver excellent real-world behaviour with a highly competitive cost structure.

Featuring a 3-inch edge-wound copper-clad aluminium voice coil, the DF14.300LT delivers 220W programme power handling and a 107dB sensitivity over a 600Hz–18kHz frequency range, making it suited to high-output systems requiring reliable operation in demanding and cost-conscious applications.

All three models use FEM-optimised motor, phase plug, and diaphragm geometries ensuring controlled distortion and performance. These models are further enhanced by the incorporation of Lavoce’s patented Integral Input Surface (IIS) phase plug topology, which utilizes a smooth, integrated input surface to enhance acoustic consistency, simplify manufacturing, and ensure repeatable performance both in production and in the field.

‘Our new 1.4-inch exit compression drivers reflect the latest evolution of our HF design philosophy,’ says Pro Audio Division Manager, Pierpaolo De Minicis. ‘By combining advanced modelling, FEM optimisation and proven technologies such as our patented IIS phase plug, we can deliver reliable, high-output solutions that simplify system design while meeting the increasing performance expectations of today’s professional audio market.’
