Stage/IEM Monitors

Funktion-One has introduced the PSM15 high-performance stage monitor, developed to providing a clear, stable on-stage reference at high level without compromising clarity.

The PSM15 is a triaxial, bi-amped design using a 15-inch low frequency driver, a dedicated midrange section and a high frequency compression driver using the same loudspeaker design principles used across Funktion-One’s product range. Separating low, mid and high frequency duties more effectively than conventional two-way wedges reduces intermodulation distortion, a common cause of harshness and loss of definition at high level. Low frequencies are impactful, articulate and convincing. The result is clearer and more stable vocal performance, even at high SPL.

Funktion-One PSM15The PSM15 employs a specially designed waveguide, which delivers a nominal 70° vertical by 50° horizontal pattern. Coverage is focused and consistent across the listening area. Crucially for a monitor wedge, this directivity control makes the PSM15 inherently less prone to feedback and results in a stable and predictable gain margin.

Many modern stage monitors rely on hidden preset EQ to achieve a usable response, but the PSM15 is designed to be naturally flat without corrective processing. This gives monitor engineers maximum headroom and removes the uncertainty associated with hidden DSP curves. What you hear is the loudspeaker’s native performance, enabling engineers to shape the mix precisely rather than compensating for baked-in voicing. For touring productions that carry different consoles or move between house systems, the predictability of a neutral starting point can be a significant advantage.

As with all Funktion-One loudspeakers, high output capability is achieved without sacrificing tonal balance. The PSM15 delivers level without strain, maintaining coherence and clarity where many wedges become brittle or unstable. Lower distortion also improves intelligibility at moderate levels, supporting reduced listening fatigue during long shows and across the tour schedule.

The cabinet has been developed for practical use on busy stages. Its compact form factor makes it easy to handle and position. M10 flying points allow for yoke mounting, while M8 fixings support a stand adaptor, enabling use beyond floor monitoring for side fill duties, small stage reinforcement or permanent installations.

The PSM15 is powered by Funktion-One’s D100Q-DSP or D80Q-DSP amplifiers. The TR-1 tour rack houses three D100Q or D80Q units, providing six monitor mixes and driving up to 18 wedges per rack. Integrated signal and loudspeaker panels support both monitor and main system duties, with six analogue inputs, six NL4 outputs, four etherCON ports for control and AoIP, and three NL8 connectors for loudspeaker multicores.

Funktion-One has designed the PSM15 for concert touring, festivals and live venues where clarity, control and reliability are critical. While vocalists will notice the improved intelligibility most immediately, instrumentalists who rely on midrange detail – from guitarists and keyboard players to horn sections – will also benefit. The controlled pattern and high gain before feedback make it particularly well suited to stages where open microphones and loud backline coexist in close proximity.

By addressing stage monitoring challenges through loudspeaker design rather than corrective processing, Funktion-One reckons to have developed a monitor that prioritises natural response, controlled directivity and low distortion. The PSM15 offers performers and engineers a clear, dependable on-stage reference in demanding live environments.
