Solid State Logichas announced the 2-input/2-output SSL 1 USB-C audio interface.
SSL 1 is class-compliant and works with Class 2.0 Mobile Devices (including iOS devices), as well as laptops and desktop computers. Powered via USB from a computer or externally using a 5V power bank or phone charger, SSL 1 can be used to DI guitar, bass, synths and drum machines. Bundled with the SSL Production Pack, SSL 1 offers a complete hardware-and-software studio in one package.
Legacy 4K Analogue Enhancement adds a carefully controlled amount of sweet‑sounding harmonic distortion and a forward yet musical high‑frequency boost, bringing the 4K presence engineers and artists have used for decades. SSL 4000‑series consoles (4K) are known for adding ‘mojo’ to sounds and instruments that pass through them. This character comes from multiple stages of harmonic distortion created by components such as compressor VCAs, VCA faders, and transistor mix amps.
Using modern components, SSL has distilled the two key elements of the 4K sound into a single circuit.
SSL 1 is built around Next-Gen 192kHz, 32-bit converters. On the rear panel, it features a Neutrik XLR mic input, a switchable Inst/Line input, two balanced outputs and two USB‑C connectors for USB audio and external power supplies or power banks. On the front panel, a headphone jack offers easy access for monitoring.
SSL 1 includes the SSL Production Pack, a curated collection of virtual instruments, samples and software tools from leading industry brands including Harrison Audio, Antares, Loopcloud, Native Instruments, AAS, IK Multimedia and Ableton.
