RME’s AoX-D PCIe soundcards promise ‘unparalleled channel density, flexibility and reliability’ in a hub for AoIP set-ups based around the Audinate Dante format.

The HDSPe AoX-D delivers up to 512 inbound and 512 outbound channels via dual gigabit Ethernet ports, providing one of the largest channel counts available in a PCIe audio interface.

RME AoX-D PCIe soundcardsFor users needing further flexibility, RME offers optional Madi expansion boards (AoX-Madi-EXT-BNC and AoX-Madi-EXT-SFP), adding up to four additional Madi inputs/outputs plus Word Clock connectivity. This allows the AoX-D to scale into large broadcast, studio or live network-audio systems, combining high-density Dante AoIP channels with traditional Madi infrastructures.

RME’s TotalMix FX software works hand-in-hand with the AoX-D, offering a powerful, intuitive and flexible digital routing and mixing environment. Providing full control over every input and output, TotalMix adds professional-level metering, low-latency monitoring and precise routing to any Dante set-up, while RME’s DIGICheck NG software offers an additional set of analysis tools.

When combined with Dante Controller, engineers gain a complete overview of an audio network, enabling easy channel management, monitoring and network optimisation. This integration ensures that large-scale AoIP systems remain manageable, stable and transparent, even in demanding production applications.

Like RME’s Digiface Dante interface, the AoX-D uses extremely reliable drivers for both macOS and Windows, ensuring stable operation in live and studio environments. Its PCIe x4 single-slot form factor makes installation simple, while built-in features like AES3 I/O, Midi via breakout cable, and a headphone output add versatility. With ultra-low latency and precise clocking, the AoX-D is tailor-made for demanding high-channel count jobs.

The AoX-D is part of RME’s AoX family, with its sibling AoX-M designed specifically for AVB/Milan networks. These interface cards offers a choice of two of the most popular AoIP standards, while maintaining RME’s performance, TotalMix integration and drivers.
