Heritage Audio has announced the P DI Series, comprising the P DI One (single channel) and P DI 2 (dual channel), high-quality custom-made transformer-equipped passive DI boxes for professional studio recording and live use.
‘While passive DI boxes are often seen as dongles or adapters, we prefer to see them as a storefront display window: your goods might be the best available but you need a glass that is clean, transparent and unscratched so they can shine and be appreciated,’ the company says. ‘The less you notice it, the better. That is why we’ve decided to create our own DI boxes based on 15 years of R&D, tests, failures and successes.’
With transformers the main component of a high-level passive DI, Heritage Audio’s 15-year experience designing custom-made transformers for almost every reputable manufacturer in the world is the ket to the new DI boxes. After measuring different alloys to achieve the response of a world-class design, the best one for the job was created giving the HA-DI the combination of a nickel core for an ultra-transparent signal transfer and MU Metal shielding for protection against any unwanted noise or interference caused by outside sources.
The passive, power-free design of the P DI One and P DI 2 converts impedance from high to low and balances the signal using a magnetic transformer that transfers audio while blocking unwanted DC voltage and RFI. This makes it especially effective at eliminating hum and buzz from ground loops while maintaining the tone of an instrument at every stage.
The P DI Series are shipping via Heritage Audio’s global network of dealers in two formats. The P DI ONE (single channel active DI box) is available with an MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of €119 (including VAT) in the EU and a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) of US$109.
The P DI 2 (dual channel active DI box) is available today with an MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of €189.00 (including VAT) in the EU and a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) of US$179. US distribution is handled via RAD Distribution.
