Dalet has announced the next evolution of its media-aware agentic AI – ‘an artificial intelligence system that can accomplish a specific goal with limited supervision’ – Dalia, that aims to change how people interact with media technology.
‘Dalia is much more than another product in the Dalet portfolio. It is central to how we see the future of media operations,’ says EVP of Product, Matteo De Martinis. ‘We are moving toward a world where people don’t need to understand every tool or technical step required to accomplish their work.
‘They tell Dalia what they want to achieve, and Dalia brings together the workflows, actions and technology to get there. The technology adapts to the person, while the human remains in control of the creative and operational process.’
The most significant evolution is Dalia’s ability to work directly with the Dalet Flex workflow engine, the operational foundation that drives processes across the platform. Dalia can discover existing workflows, determine which is needed for a task, initiate actions and begin creating new workflows based on what a user wants to accomplish.
The result is a move beyond fixed automation toward intelligent workflows that can adapt to the work at hand. Instead of requiring a user to know how a process has been configured or which technical steps need to happen next, Dalia can help determine the path and put it into action.
‘One of the most powerful things about Dalia is how much complexity it can take out of adapting and integrating media operations,’ De Martinis explains. ‘For example, you can ask Dalia to integrate with an external API, and it can generate the script, save it into Dalet Flex and help create the workflow to put that integration into operation. What traditionally required specialized technical expertise becomes dramatically easier, giving organisations the agility to adapt as their needs change.’
Dalia can assist with the work that takes a story from an idea into production, helping coordinate tasks, work orders and assignments while keeping journalists and producers in control. A producer planning a story, for example, can work with Dalia to identify what needs to happen next and coordinate the supporting activities, from requesting graphics to assigning work to the appropriate team members.
For sports organisations, Dalia accelerates the journey from finding ‘the right moment’ to getting it in front of fans. Media-aware search helps teams quickly discover relevant content across growing media libraries, while intelligent workflows assist with creating and repackaging highlights for different platforms and audiences.
