Alcala, Barbour, Mark Bailey, Greg McLaganA new team has been formed by QSC to handle the company’s business in Europe, Africa & Middle East (EAME). QSC VP Global Sales, Greg McLagan, has confirmed that former JBL man Mark Bailey will take over as Sales Manager for the territory, supported by new Product Applications Specialist (for Engineered Systems), Martin Barbour, while existing Product Specialist, Santiago Alcala will take on a more general support role.

The move underscores the changes taking place within QSC’s corporate structure, and the setting up of the new Engineered Systems Group under the direction of Scott Kalarchik. ‘We now have the nucleus of one of the strongest teams in pro audio, bringing a wealth of experience across sales and product application,’ says McLagan. ‘These appointments will bring us closer to our customer base by offering greater support and training. At the same time it is another step on our path towards eventually establishing an operation in Europe as we have in Asia and Latin America.’

Mark Bailey, who has occupied market development and sales positions with JBL Professional and Harman Pro for the past 12 years, says: ‘I relish the opportunity to grow the regions for a company with such positive ideas. Q-Sys is, without doubt, the ultimate audio networking system – which was apparent before I joined – while K Series is a genius product. It’s the whole package that excites me.’

Meanwhile Martin Barbour developed a vast programming knowledge with BSS Audio during his early career before designing and programming networks for some of the world’s leading projects, including O2 Arena and Wembley Stadium in London, and Atlantis Hotel and Resort and Ferrari World in the Middle East, as an independent consultant. He was already well aware of the paradigm shift represented by Q-Sys before taking on the role, and will offer Q-Sys design assistance, training, troubleshooting, certification and commissioning. ‘QSC has by far the best opportunity to move forward as a systems provider and this role gives me a chance to get involved in other parts of the signal chain,’ he says.

The changes will enable long-time QSC man Santiago Alcala to revert to his principal support role from his base in Barcelona.

Greg McLagan confirms the significance of the timing, with two major product launches scheduled from QSC in the early part of 2011: ‘Our increased presence in the key regions will enable us to take full advantage of these launches.’
