Under the leadership of co-founders Gaëtan Byk and Thierry Coduys, Holophonix, immersive sound innovator Holophonix has announced an expanded its operational team, blending scientific, technical and artistic experience, and successful collaborations across theatre and the arts.
Spun off from Amadeus in 2023, Coduys now serves as Creative Engineering Manager. Trained at IRCAM, he has collaborated with the likes Luciano Berio, Iannis Xenakis, Frank Zappa, Pierre Huyghe and Sasha Waltz. With more than 30 years’ experience, he shapes Holophonix’s artistic and technological direction, balancing innovation with a human approach to the future of sound.
Supporting the technical evolution of the company is Chief Technical Officer, Dr Adrien Zanni, specialist in acoustic modelling, spatial aesthetics and spatial sound composition, who began his studies at the Chalon-sur-Saône Conservatory, later earning a Master’s degree at the Louis Lumière National School of Cinema, Photography and Sound. He then completed a PhD in Aesthetics, Science and Technology of the Arts at Université Paris 8, within the CICM research team. His thesis – developed in collaboration with Holophonix and IRCAM’s Acoustic and Cognitive Spaces group – focused on designing a vocabulary of tools for writing sound space within a spatialiser.
‘What motivates me most is working at the intersection of cutting-edge spatial audio technology and real-world artistic creation,’ Zanni says. ‘Holophonix brings together powerful algorithms, flexibility in spatial rendering, and a strong emphasis on user experience – all designed to serve the needs of composers, sound designers and engineers. My role is to help bridge theoretical research with live implementation, ensuring that Holophonix remains as a tool built not just for technical excellence, but also for real-world utility and artistic relevance.’
Hss research-based approach feeds directly into real-world applications, with contributions to major artistic productions at institutions such as the Venice Biennale, the Palace of the Popes at the Avignon Festival, the Philharmonie de Paris, the International Festival of Lyric Art in Aix-en-Provence and the Pantheon in Paris.
‘Thierry was the very first person I called in 2017, when Holophonix was still just a research project,’ says Dr Adrien Zanni. ‘I’ve known him for nearly 30 years, and he was one of the few people who first sparked my passion for sound and its intersection with art and technology. I feel immensely proud to have him with us today, in a role that seems tailor-made for him.
‘Adrien joined us soon after as one of our very first developers, through a CIFRE PhD in partnership with Université Paris 8 – following a recommendation from Thierry, who was then his professor. His boundless passion during our first meeting has never faded. His skills and energy have only grown stronger, naturally leading him to become team leader and CTO. I’m proud that he chose to continue the journey with us after completing his PhD, and I’m excited to see how both of them continue to shape the Company’s future.’
Project Manager and Application Engineer Francesco Papaleo plays a vital role in designing sound environments, from experimental installations to performance spaces. With 15 years’ experience across more than 40 countries, he combines technical expertise in audio systems design with a refined artistic sensitivity.
‘I spend my days at the intersection of technical support, education and development,’ he says. ‘I see engineering and design as user-centric processes driven by technology and innovation. Fortunately, I’m not the only person in the company who thinks this way – our team conversations constantly revolve around real-world applications and user experience.’
The R&D and engineering department reflects the company’s interdisciplinary synergy. Software Engineer Louis Genieys combines technical precision with musical fluency. Holding dual Master’s degrees in Physical Acoustics (Sorbonne University) and Audio Engineering (Louis Lumière National School), he also trained in electroacoustic composition and classical piano. At Holophonix, he plays a key role in the design and development of core software architecture.
Software Engineer Arthus Touzet adds scientific and philosophical depth to the team calling on his studies in theoretical physics, epistemology and musicology at the Universities of Paris-Sorbonne and Marseille. He specialises in digital signal processing and High Order Ambisonics.
Full Stack Developer Osvaldo Felices rounds out the technical team. A professional dancer and electronic music producer with more than 20 years of creative experience, he bridges user experience and functionality with artistic flair.
Engineer and musician Théo Ouchene explores the intersection of embedded systems, electronics, and immersive sound. A graduate of ECE Paris with international training at McGill University, he focuses on multichannel spatialisation, plug-in development, and embedded audio effects. His practice is rooted in both research and artistic experimentation, combining software development with a deep commitment to sound design.
Signal Processing and AI Engineer Anthony Gallien brings expertise in 3D audio, acoustics and spatial sound analysis. A graduate of ENSEA, he has pursued advanced research at Aalto University in Finland and IRCAM in Paris, where he continues to innovate in spatial impulse response manipulation. With a foundation in machine learning and simulation, he bridges scientific rigor with creative innovation.
Bringing a strategic edge to Holophonix’s international growth is International Sales Director Yassine Zaim. With more than a decade of experience at the crossroads of music, technology and business development, he leads the company’s global expansion efforts. A multi-instrumentalist and graduate of top institutions in France, the US and Brazil, he previously held key roles at Roon Labs and Devialet, supporting projects across complex international markets. At Holophonix, he is focused on building a robust ecosystem of partners and delivering immersive audio experiences to diverse industries.
‘Holophonix was built on years of spatial audio research and artistic experimentation. Today, we offer a complete ecosystem that empowers creators to shape sound with precision, flexibility, and meaning – wherever the experience takes place,’ says Zaim. ‘We’re especially inspired by partnerships that blur the lines between art, architecture, and emotion; whether in museums, performance halls, or wellness environments. These are the spaces where spatial audio reveals its full narrative power.’
Brand Content Creator Helen Karam leads Holophonix’s visual storytelling and communication, drawing on her Master’s degree in Photography & Contemporary Art from Paris 8 University. With a foundation in fine art and international experience in luxury and lifestyle imagery, she oversees the brand’s photo and video production, press communication and social media content.
A seasoned expert in A/V systems and venue design, Jean-François Mathais brings institutional knowledge to the team. From 2002 to 2013, he was a partner at dUCKS Scéno, where he designed world-class venues including the Jinan Opera House in China, the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen and the Paris Philharmonie. He then became project sponsor support for the Paris Symphony Hall. Prior to that, he created and led the A/V team at the Lyon Opera, overseeing sound design, mixing, recording, intercom, and subtitles for live performances.
‘I’m immensely proud of the team we’ve built – a team that keeps growing day after day, enriched by individuals whose most defining traits, in my eyes, are a visceral passion for sound, technology and art,’ Byksays. ‘Above all, they are exceptional human beings – as humble as they are brilliant. I’ve always feared that growth might dilute our DNA, that we might lose our original spark. But what I witness every day reassures me: when guided by the right values, and driven by people as passionate as they are talented, growth doesn’t mean compromise; it amplifies who we truly are.’
The new team reflects Holophonix’s commitment to bridging the latest technology advances with creative exploration.
