Following placements with Asian audio companies in Vietnam, China and Japan, an Outline GTO loudspeaker system has been purchased by one of Indonesia’s premier rental firms, Melodia Sound & Lighting Systems.
Founded in 1997 and operating with branches in Jakarta e Surabaya, Melodia is also the nation’s Outline distributor. The company entered the rental sector in 2005 with the purchase of an Outline Butterfly system. In the intervening years, Melodia has added various other systems from the Italian manufacturer, including Mantas, Mini-Compass, DVS and Eidos 265 systems.
With its latest acquisition onboard, the company took on audio production for a concert by Steve Vai at Jakarta’s Tennis Indoor Senayan.
The GTO system was specified in the concert rider, and Melodia designed and deployed a system comprising 18 GTO line array elements with 16 Lab 21 infra-sub enclosures to fit the bill. Four of Outline’s two-way DVS 15 SP were also used for front fill for the VIP seats.
‘The venue doesn’t have the acoustics of a recording studio – if anything, they’re more like those of a cathedral,’ says Rudy Winarto, Melodia’s owner and MD. ‘The difference between good and bad results depends to a great extent on the choice of loudspeaker system, which above all must have excellent directivity control. The clarity and precision of Outline systems helped a huge amount. In particular, the perfect coverage and stunning depth imaging of the GTO created an irreplaceable tool that was also easy to rig and operate.’

It was the first time that we’d used GTO and I have to say that, so far, it is comfortably the best-sounding system we’ve ever had here – I’ve joined the list of those who say that it’s miles ahead of the best competition.’
As well as its rental division, Melodia has a specific department dedicated to designing permanent installations, which has equipped numerous Indonesian churches, concert halls and commercial installations with Outline products.
