Heritage Audio has announced the Herchild Next Gen Model 670N, promising ‘authentic 670 tone crafted for the Next Generation of studios and affordable for any budget’.
Following the relaase of the Herchild Model 660 and 670 recreations of the Fairchild Model 660 and 670 compressors using NOS tubes and carefully crafted transformers four years ago, and the subequent Grandchild 670/500 500 series Vari-Mu compressor, the Spanish company has unveiled the Herchild Next Gen Model 670N.
Independent bypass, side chain filtering and a ‘thoroughly designed’ output gain make-up stage for each channel based on the transformer coupled HA-880 op-amp are some of the never-seen-before modern additions to the Next Gen.
The six attack and Release times are intended to make it even more flexible than the original unit, along with the progressive DC Threshold, combining control of the ratio and the knee (from hard limiting to smooth, transparent compression).
Powered by the same NOS tubes of the Herchild Model 670 and six newly-designed custom transformers, the Next Gen ‘will infuse your tracks with rich analog warmth and commanding presence, while remaining remarkably quiet and transparent – perfectly suited to the creative demands of mixing and the precision and finesse of mastering’.
