Heritage Audio has announced the the Motorcity EQ in native plug-in form.
Recreated from original Motown units owned by eight-time Grammy-winning producer, mixdown artist and engineer Michael Brauer, Heritage Audio a ‘dead on, carbon copy of one of the most influential EQs ever’ three years ago. Now, the company has introduced the Motorcity EQualizer plug-in, as ‘the world’s first true-reproduction of the Holy Grail of classic equalisers’.
‘What makes this plug-in so special is its ability to infuse any mix with the unmistakable warmth, punch, and musicality that defined countless classic records, all while fitting seamlessly into a modern DAW workflow,’ the company says.
Each of the original unit’s seven fixed frequency bands – 50Hz, 130Hz, 320Hz, 800Hz, 2kHz, 5kHz and 12.5kHz – has been modelled to mimic the analogue behaviour of the hardware, complete with the gentle curves and natural phase interactions that make passive EQs ‘musical’.
‘Perhaps its most defining characteristic, though, is its ability to impart cohesion – that subtle analogue warmth that gives mixes depth, dimension and soul,’ the manufacturer claims. ‘Whether used on individual tracks, buses or the stereo master, the Motorcity EQualizer plug-in brings the timeless Motown vibe into today’s productions, delivering not just precision, but personality.
‘Our goal is to create helpful tools to channel creativity and put the focus back on the “music” in music production. That is why we want to reach as many users as possible with a comprehensive and fair pricing scheme. Therefore, all Motorcity EQualizer and i73 Pro hardware owners will get the Motorcity EQ plug-in for free.
‘As for the rest, threre is a very affordable price of $99/€99 and a 14-Day demo trial.’
