Outboard/Plug-ins

UK-based company Krotos has issued a major feature expansion for the Krotos Studio Pro AI-powered sound design desktop app and plug-in.

Unlike generative AI tools, Krotos Studio Pro uses an AI-assisted engine built on professionally recorded, licensed sounds. Designed to enhance human creativity rather than replace it, it gives users speed and flexibility while ensuring full transparency and authorship, reflecting Krotos’ commitment to ethical development and industry best practices.

Krotos Studio Pro v2.5.0Focused on speed, flexibility and ease of use, v2.5.0 enhancements introduce instant ambience and music rendering, drag-and-drop stem export and visual waveform feedback, streamlining workflows without compromising creative control for film making, postproduction, game audio, and content creation,.

Krotos Studio Pro now supports exporting individual ambience or music stems from a performance or render. Users can isolate and drag out up to four stereo stems – for example, separating elements like wind, traffic, or instrumental layers – giving them more control in the mix. This provides a faster alternative to multichannel routing or manual editing, reducing a process that might otherwise take hours down to minutes.

The latest update introduces instant ambience rendering, allowing users to generate fully-formed atmospheres, like a quiet forest or a bustling city street, in seconds. Instead of recording in real time or layering manually, users can now set a duration and receive a polished ambience built from professionally recorded elements.

For those under pressure to deliver music cues quickly, the new background music rendering feature removes the need to perform or record in full. Select instrumentation, character and length, and Krotos Studio Pro generates a complete underscore or background bed instantly.

Version 2.5.0 also brings an upgrade to visual feedback in the form of a real-time waveform display. This interface update helps users understand the shape and structure of their audio as they work, giving them a visual reference to support mixing and editing decisions.

‘Creative ideas move fast, and we believe your tools should keep up,’ says Krotos CEO, Orfeas Boteas. ‘With features like instant ambience and music rendering, stem export, and visual feedback, Krotos Studio Pro supports a faster, more fluid workflow—whether you’re designing for film, games, or social media content. Our goal is to make high-quality sound design more accessible, reducing the path from your imagination to the final result, without sacrificing quality or control.’
