Heritage Audio has announced the TAPEoPLEX native tape delay plug-in. Based on the vintage Echoplex tape delay used by the likes of Miles Davis, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, John Martyn and Neil Young, the Heritage TAPEoPLEX reckons to ‘just nail the sound of the most famous tape echo unit of all time’.
‘It was about time someone got serious about recreating the legendary tape delay sound to today’s standards,’ the company says.
‘The use of today’s technology to carefully model this plug-in from an original unit (Serial #34553) is the real secret behind the sound of the TAPEoPLEX. And taking advantage of the extra options that a plug-in allows, the TAPEoPLEX is a full independent stereo unit where users can choose different echo times for the left and right channels or link them to have the same or different delay time constant on each side.’
Additional controls allows users to choose the amount of freshness of the tape and harmonic distortion when needed.
With the release of the Heritage TAPEoPLEX native plug-in, the Spanish company is aming to put the focus back on the ‘music’ in music production.
The Heritage TAPEoPLEX is available for free to owners of any Heritage Audio i73 Pro audio interface, and at a cost of €99/US$99 for everyone else.
