Slate Digital has announced the ML-2A, the latest in its line of modelling microphones, supported by the Slate Digital Virtual Microphone System [VMS] plug-in.
This factory-matched pair of small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphones unlocks Slate Digital’s library of vintage and modern modelled microphones.
Developed from the ML-2, ML-2A mics offers expanded dynamic range and refined detail for mono or stereo applications, along with -20dB pad and bass roll-off switches to handle high-SPL sources. They are accompanied by an included mounting bar.
Once combined with the VMS plug-in, ML-2A opens the door on both studio essentials as well as more rare and unique models that can add unique character to recordings. Zero-latency processing allows easy auditioning of sounds while recording, as well as the ability to change the mic model later in the mixing process.
VMS currently includes 27 microphone models, including fundamentals such as the S-57 and S-421 dynamics, ribbon microphones such as the S-121, small-diaphragm condensers such as the S-451 and S-222, and large-diaphragm condensers such as the S-414 and S-67. These models can be mixed, matched or blended as needed, to create distinct sounds for each source in your recording project. Additional colour and vintage saturation can also be added using the Virtual Preamps Collection.
