United Studio Technologies has released the UT Tube67, a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone that references the sought-after classic Neumann U67.
‘Classic mics like the 67 are not just pieces of gear, they’re part of the DNA of recorded music,’ says United Studio Technologies co-founder, Dave Daughdrill. ‘We wanted to bring that same magic back in a way that’s accessible and reliable, without losing any of the character that made the originals iconic.’
At the heart of the UT Tube67 is a NOS(New Old Stock) EF86 pentode valve/vacuum tube, delivering the warm, intimate quality that has made vintage microphones of this type indispensable for vocals and acoustic sources.
Its linear response across polar patterns ensures flexibility, excelling on strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, drums and both acoustic and electric guitars. A switchable Air Mod option on the Tube 67 provides futher tonal versatility.
The UT K67 capsule used in the mic is an historically correct, dual backplate capsule, 24k gold-sputtered on 6µm Mylar, optimised for operating voltage and tuned to vintage specifications. The UT-BV12 transformer is custom-wound in the US with high-nickel alloy laminations and a copper Faraday shield. Modelled on a ‘golden reference’ example of the original U67 capsule, it delivers the same tight bass response while minimising noise and interference.
