Ex Machina Soundworks has announced Titan, ‘a cutting-edge loudspeaker designed from the ground up to tackle the common challenges associated with Atmos system implementation in mixing and mastering rooms’.

Titan’s compact two-way coaxial cuboid design was conceived for surrounds and overheads, ensuring integration into any Atmos configuration. Despite its small size, the cabinet is loaded with a 5.5-inc custom SEAS coaxial driver with Composite Sound TPCD diaphragms offering a maximum continuous output of 105dB.

Ex Machina Soundworks TitanProprietary technology promises high phase and magnitude linearity, as well as 90° dispersion, simplifying speaker placement and positioning.

The Titan system comes as a package of four satellites with accompanying 2U-high amplifier/DSP pack, called the Titan Lunar Core. The Core houses DSP and highly efficient class-D amplifiers. The fifth generation SHARC+ DSP provides higher computing headroom and improved proprietary calibration technology, resulting in a flat frequency, phase, and impulse response. The flagship AKM Velvet Sound AK4493/AK5572 conversion guarantees sonic performance, while Hypex N-core series amplifiers supply efficient, clean power. The Core eliminates the need for local power at the mounting points, streamlining installation. The four-pole SpeakOn input allows remote bi-amping over a single cable.

The Titan loudspeakers carry 75mm x75mm and 100mm x100mm MIS-D Vesa mounting points, providing many inexpensive, flexible deployment options. Built with a rigid extruded aluminium cabinet, the Titan system is the manufacturer’s least resonant cabinet to date.

Three Atmos 7.1.4 packages are available for a variety of different room sizes and needs. Atmos Package 1 comprises LCR Pulsar with Titans as surrounds and overheads (for small to medium-sized rooms), while Atmos Package 2 comprises Quasar as LCR with Titan’s as surrounds and overheads (for medium-sized mix mastering and film rooms) and Atmos Package 3 comprises LCR Quasar, Ganymede surrounds, and Titan’s as overheads (for medium to larger mix & mastering rooms).

The loudspeakers’ power and full-range capabilities meet Dolby specifications, eliminating the need for a dedicated subwoofer for the LFE channel, reducing overall costs and can be expanded to suit virtually any configuration.
