Loudspeakers: Install

Audio-Technica has announced a Dante-enabled version of its recently-released ATSP-30 ceiling loudspeaker, the ATSP-30DP, for small-to-medium-sized meeting rooms with easy integration into a network with other Dante-enabled devices, including Audio-Technica’s ATDM-1012DAN Digital SmartMixer.

Audio-Technica ATSP-30PATSP-30DP speakers are supplied as a pair – one active, one passive – that connect to each other via standard speaker cable. Mounting flush in drop or hard ceilings with the included mounting hardware, the 10.4-inch diameter loudspeakers have a 140° coverage angle and excellent low-to-mid frequency reproduction, making them suitable not only for microphone amplification but also for playing background music (BGM) and audio from video sources.

Discrete audio signals can be sent to the ATSP-30DP (either individually or paired) – helpful for zone-based sound reinforcement and BGM playback. For planning purposes, ATSP-30 speakers are compatible with AFMG’s Ease software for 3D sound modelling of an installation space. Audio-Technica also offers its Speaker Layout Tool, which estimates sound pressure levels for a proposed speaker setup in a given space.

Once installed, the speakers’ onboard DSP settings, including 4-band EQ, sound profile presets, delay, power restriction, phase shift and connection status can be adjusted via the ATDM mixer’s Web Remote to achieve the best sound based on a room’s acoustics.
