Bluesound Professional has announced the BSP1000 and BSP500 network active loudspeakers. Both models incorporate integrated streaming capability designed for use in indoor and outdoor commercial installations. The BSP1000 and BSP500 speakers are offered in white or black matte finish, and come supplied with an integral wallmount bracket.

The units are powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE) allowing a single-wire connection to the speaker for both power and audio. The player in the BSP speaker is based on the established BluOS platform and is capable of playing and distributing content from local network storage as well as from a large number of streaming services, including some specifically designed for commercial use, such as SoundMachine, Custom Channels, QSIC and internet radio stations.

Bluesound BSP1000 network loudspeakerAs well as stand-alone use, it is possible to use a pair of BSP speakers in stereo configuration and multiple speakers in a room in either mono or stereo configurations. Use of either BSP model in a larger BluOS system is also possible, allowing for grouping into user-definable groups of whatever size is required with other BSP speakers and/or any other connected Bluesound Professional players, amplified players or network speakers on the network in an installation.

Both models use a 1-inch HF driver, while the BSP1000 features a 6.5-inch LF driver and the BSP500 a 5.25-inch woofer. The LF driver on BSP1000 is port loaded with a provided port plug for outdoor use. The frequency response of the BSP1000 is 45Hz-23kHz (63Hz-23kHz for the BSP500) and the THD+N of either model is 0.095 per cent at full rated power. Access to content and power is via wired ethernet for glitch-free streaming. High efficiency electronics and drive units provide a maximum SPL of 100dB (using PoE++). Each is powered by a high-efficiency amplifier with a low power standby mode.

Control of the speakers can be accomplished by Windows/Mac computer and any iOS/Android phone, tablets the Bluesound Professional CP100 wallmount controller and many third-party control systems. Security provisions prevent any unauthorised control of the system.

An integral bracket allows for wall mounting with 90° of swivel and 170° of rotation possible. IP65 rating allows for both indoor and outdoor use.

‘Our focus is to combine exceptional sound quality with unique flexibility and convenience for both the installer and their customers’, explains Bluesound Professional VP and General Manager, Graeme Harrison. ‘Of course, reliability of the components as well as the BluOS operating system is also paramount so the brand is all about testing and continuous improvement.’
