With the launch of LW6, Lewitt aims establishing a new wireless studio headphones category that meet all requirements of experienced studio professionals.
Unlike other wireless technologies, Lewitt’s RealSound works in the ultra-wide band range to deliver uncompressed audio with latency of under 6ms. This promises the experience of wired high-end studio headphones without the encumbrance of cable.
The included RealSound transmitter connects to the same output as wired headphones, such as an audio interface. Alternatively, the transmitter can be connected via USB-C directly to a computer giving, within a 5m (16ft) range, wireless audio transmission without compression or noticeable delay.
Lewitt has ensured that the LW6 system provides the sound quality expected from high-end open-back headphones in a closed-back design. This ensures an effective two-way sound isolation for recording and monitoring without bleeding into microphones and mixing and listening without disturbing anyone around.
Lewitt allows further customisation of LW6 via a fully parametric 5-band EQ. Users can create individual sound profiles either via the available desktop software or mobile app and store them directly on the headphones. Thanks to the built-in DSP, no host device or software needs to be connected or run in the background.
To protect hearing from dangerous high-level peaks, a threshold level can be set using the loudness guard. All metering in the software is k-weighted for broadcast and mastering. Each feature can be assigned to the two hardware custom buttons for quick access, either by single or double press, giving you a total of four individual commands at hand.
Like the sound profiles, these features run directly on the DSP of the LW6 headphones and connection to the available mobile app or desktop software is not required while using it.
The LW6 earcups feature thick and comfortable memory foam for reduced leakage and passive isolation. And together with the adjustable headband, LW6 adapt perfectly to head shape even with glasses.
Lewitt LW6 has a playback time of up to 21 hours. After 15 minutes of charging, users get an extra three hours, so sessions are not interrupted.
The LW6 can be easily connected anywhere, whether it’s professional audio equipment with a headphone output or directly to a laptop via USB-C when working on audio productions on the go. As with other professional studio headphones, there is also an analogue 3.5mm connection for using the LW6 with a cable.
