Tascam has launched the SS-R300N, a new network enabled solid-state recorder/player designed for professional audio installations requiring reliable recording and playback and flexible system integration.

The 1U-high rackmount SS-R300N combines familiar professional recording and playback capabilities, with recording and playback resolutions of up to 96kHz, 24-bits. The player accommodates both SDXC cards and USB flash drives.
External CD drives can also be connected for further expansion – this includes both audio discs and AAC files for further playback flexibility. Comprehensive recording and playback functions and with multiple control and connectivity options makes the unit suitable for applications including commercial and public facilities, halls and theatres, broadcast installations, and conference systems.
A notable enhancement of the SS-R300N is its network functionality. Through the built-in LAN port, a secure connection can be established directly between the unit and a server. The uploading and downloading of files - either manually or through automation – via FTPS client and SFTP server/client functions streamlines workflow, creating an efficient file management process without having to remove the SD card.
The SS-R300N also supports Open Sound Control (OSC) for integration with external control systems, Ethernet, RS-232C, and parallel I/O interfaces provide additional options for remote control and system automation.
For some installations, incorporating network audio is a must-have feature. The SS-R300N can be fitted with the optional IF-DA2 Dante expansion card, providing integration with Dante networks of any scale. Integration into the Q-Sys ecosystem further expands the SS-R300N’s integration capabilities.
The SS-R300N provides professional features such as pre-recording, track editing, pitch adjustment, mono mix, and End of Message (EOM) functions, plus timer-based operations such as SNTP synchronisation. For long duration recording, relay recording between different storage mediums allows recording to continue when one media becomes full, helping to minimise interruptions.
Compatibility with the SS-R250N and SS-CDR250N helps to simplify playback by managing content with an offline playlist editor (Tascam Playlist Editor) easily facilitating integration into existing Tascam systems.
