Dreamforce is the annual user conference for Salesforce, the largest client relationship management software company in the world – and a place to show off the latest technology to tech-savvy attendees.

Śląski StadiumA complete rebuild of Poland’s most famous venue has made it one of the most modern football and sporting facilities in Europe. Opened in 1956, Śląski Stadium (Silesian Stadium) in Chorzów was a symbol of Poland’s post-war rebirth, and has hosted some of football’s most important and memorable matches, as well as concerts by U2, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and The Rolling Stones.

In 1993 the stadium became the official home of the Polish national football team.

The Lava CentreA high-tech exhibition exploring volcanic activity and tracing the creation of Iceland over millions of years, has opened in Hvolsvöllur. The Lava Centre was inspired by flights being cancelled when Eyjafjallajökull erupted in April 2010.

The Lava Centre is a fully immersive show, located where five of the Iceland’s most iconic volcanoes to be seen. The design, preparation, integration and finalisation of all A/V equipment for the nine main show items took almost a year.

DITWCreated by the producers of the BBC series (and arena show) Walking With Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs In The Wild is a ‘live action experience’ using A/V and animatronic technologies to create a walk-through of the Late Cretaceous period.

There are three elements to this mix of theatre, theme park and the scientific research – the infrastructure and set design; technical sound, lighting and A/V content, and live actors who inhabit the set and guide the visiting time travellers.

Saints Peter and Paul CathedralHaving suffered long-standing acoustical and clarity issues, Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis, Indiana, turned to the IMEG Corp for a solution. I was found in the use of Renkus-Heinz’s Iconyx Gen5 loudspeakers.

‘We specified the Iconyx Gen5 – which are often used in large churches – but we did some unusual things in our design to improve clarity,’ explains IMEG Senior Designer David Wright.

Bradfield CollegeWithin an idyllic setting in the England’s rolling Berkshire countryside, Bradfield College is one of the UK’s leading independent schools for boys and girls from 13 to 18 years years of age.

Recently, Autograph Sales & Installations was called on to deliver specialised audio technology to expand the well-rounded education which, along with academic excellence, is the primary aim of the College.

Infinite ContentTouring in support of their recent Everything Now album, Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire have completed two months in North America. Their Infinite Content tour has been performed in-the-round at more than two dozen arenas.

Where the band’s recording push the envelope of genres, the tour pushes the boundaries of A/V technology with the world’s largest Audio Video Bridging system to date for touring concert sound reinforcement.

Justin Bieber’s Purpose world tourWith only two UK appearances for Justin Bieber’s Purpose world tour, the PA had to provide a convincing snapshot of his presence: for him; his exacting crew; and his fans. The single show at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium (formerly the Millennium Stadium) drew media attention and thousands of followers from all over Europe.

It also represented another UK showcase for Outline’s GTO line array, as UK-based rental mainstay Capital Sound’s hire inventory was already heavily committed.

Alphabet CityInspired by author Salman Rushdie, artist Diane Samuels and husband Henry Reese founded a City of Asylum chapter on Pittsburgh’s North Side that is becoming a local centre for global literature and culture. It is also a showcase for local creative services firm, Clear Story.

From hosting events in their home and  impromptu venues in their neighbourhood, the couple took on part of a former Masonic to create Alphabet City.

The America's CupWith the America’s Cup sailing into Bermuda for its 35th edition, the Bermuda Broadcasting Company (BBC) was made official broadcast partner. Needing to accommodate video and commentary from the water, helicopters and from onshore, the BBC created an infrastructure based on a BroaMan fibre network.

The network covers the America’s Cup Village at the Royal Naval Dockyard; the transmission, editing and news gathering hub; and the BBC’s home studio facilities.

Museum of African American History and CultureThe new National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only US national museum devoted to African American life, history and culture. Since opening in 2016, more than one million visitors have experienced its exhibits, interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations.

It is part of the Smithsonian Institution, with acoustic and audio delivery designed by exhibition specialist SH Acoustics, at the request of Ralph Appelbaum Associates.
