Polish audio specialist Looptrotter Audio Engineering has released the Satur-8, providing eight separate channels of saturation emulation.

Looptrotter Satur-8 saturation emulatorRecreating the sound of vintage valve consoles and tape recorders, Satur-8 works as an analogue soft limiter and adds low-order harmonics ‘in an intelligent and musical way’. The unit gives a solid and fat sound in the recording, processing and mixing stages

A point of reference for the creation of Satur-8 was the company’s own Monster Compressor, as its saturation system is based on vacuum tubes, which Looptrotter has emulated with semiconductor technology.

The Satur-8 is user-friendly – all channels are equipped with two knobs: Drive (saturation depth) and Output (output level). Saturation depth (the amount of added harmonics) is indicated by two LEDs at 4% and 8% THD. It is also an analogue summing mixer, 8:2 with insert point. Each of the eight channels allows panning (LCR), and stereo output level is set with a master pot. Aux input allows a second Satur-8 to be connected to increase the number of processed channels.

The unit is distributed in the UK by KMR Audio.
