Avid has released Pro Tools 12 is now available, offering licencing through subscription or outright purchase with an annual upgrade path. Pro Tools 12 users will have access to forthcoming Avid Cloud Collaboration, Avid Marketplace and Avid Artist Community innovations, designed to provide ‘a more efficient, collaborative and profitable connection between artists, media professionals and their audiences’.

Avid Cloud Collaboration is a set of collaboration workflows allowing collaboration on a common project. These workflows eliminate manual file management required by generic cloud storage solutions by automatically synchronising project changes across a group.

Avid Marketplace provides in-app purchase of plug-ins and apps from Avid Connectivity partners, and a community for connecting with collaborators, for buying and selling content and storing work. Through Avid Marketplace, users can discover other artists and initiate collaborations, while Avid Content Marketplace provides a channel through which to share work with a network of potential purchasers – with licensing and rights agreements worked out through automatic templates (coming soon). Avid cloud storage allows sessions to be stored in personal cloud space, as well as inviting others to collaborate on projects (also coming soon).

Seventeen additional plug-ins and nine new plug-in bundles are now available in the Avid Marketplace and as in-app purchases in Pro Tools.
