dBTechnologies has made two additions to its DVA loudspeaker series. The active subwoofer S30 makes its debut at the Pro Light & Sound show alongside the T12 line array module.

A step up the from the successful T4 module, the DVA T12 provides more power and a greater range than its smaller sibling, but with its active three-way design it is as easy to set up and install.

Featuring neodymium speakers and high-performance digital amps with total of 1.4kW output power combined with DSP and high-quality AD-DA converters, the DVA box delivers 136dB SPL for large sound reinforcement applications.

With its long throw, the T12 is a powered unit enabling sequentially configurable array segments. The DSP offers a set of signal processing features, its toolbox including crossovers with steep slopes and comprehensive EQ functions. It aligns phases and time, and provides digital peak, RMS, and thermal limiters for maximum headroom, performance, and operating safety at peak levels. The T12 weighs in at 29kg, enabling easy set-up of line arrays.

In-house developed components promise high SPL, low distortion, and delivering a uniform 100°-by-10° coverage pattern.

The three 1-inch neodymium HF drivers, each with a 1.5-inch Mylar diaphragm, are exceptionally light and responsive, and able to deliver a linear frequency response. Two 6.5-inch neodymium woofers with frontloaded horn, are placed close together to maximise coherent coupling and response for critical midrange frequencies, and the 12-inch neodymium woofer reaches down to 60Hz to enable full-range applications.

Protecting its components is a highly durable exterior. The DVA T12's housing is designed to be immune to knocks and scratches, entirely resistant to water and moisture, and fully compatible with DVA T4 units. Both systems’ driver sections are in line, so that they generate phase-correct high-frequency additions allowing T4 to serve as down-fill extensions in large systems.

An additional facility is the RDnet port, which comes as standard. With this, the T12 is ready for integration into complex, remotely controlled and monitored DVA sound reinforcement systems, allowing it to be readily adapted via RDnet. The DVA T12’s low-end complement is the equally network-ready DVA S30 subwoofer.

The S30 features a dual 18-inch subwoofer pairing in a bass reflex housing, packing ultra low-frequency punch. This is intended to complement large PAs and complement the DVA T12 mid/high-range units in stacked arrays.

As with all subwoofers in the DVA range, the S30 comes with the digipro digital power amp onboard, providing efficiency to more than a 90 per cent yield with no need for fans. A 3kW total power output, means the DVA S30 delivers 50 per cent higher amp performance than is standard for its class.

A hybrid design brings together the benefits of bass reflex and horn systems in a compact housing engineered to render low frequencies with high SPL. Made of sturdy birch multiplex covered in robust black textured lacquer, the enclosure is easy to tote with its comfortable carrying handles.
