DAS Audio has introduced the second generation of its Artec series loudspeaker range.

Artec 10AAvailable in powered and passive configurations, the line includes ten models offering wide bandwidth and high SPL in a ‘visually discrete’ package.

The speakers can be installed on walls, ceilings, or columns through an extensive selection of optional mounting accessories for under balcony, area fill, and close-field applications in hotels, restaurants, and convention facilities.

Among the most notable differences with the second generation Artec series loudspeakers is the inclusion of five self-powered models: the Artec 506A, 526A, 508A, 510A, and S15A subwoofer. These use class-D, 720W peak/360W continuous power amplifiers in all models except the Artec S15A (which has a class-D, 2kW peak/1kW continuous amplifier). The passive Artec series models include the Artec 506, 526, 508, 510, and S15 subwoofer.

The Artec 506/506A uses a 6-inch LF transducer with a 1-inch HF compression driver while the Artec 526/526A uses two 6-inch LF transducers and a 1-inch HF compression driver. The Artec 508/508A include an 8-inch LF transducer with a 1-inch HF compression driver. These three models each have a HF horn dispersion pattern of 80° x 80°. The Artec 510/510A employs a single 10-inch LF transducers mated with a 1-inch HF compression driver and its HF horn dispersion pattern is 110° x 50°. The new Artec series S15A (powered) and S15 (passive) subwoofers employ a 15-inch LF loudspeaker.

The systems have Birch plywood enclosures that are painted with a highly-resistant black paint finish. The passive Artec series models provide two NL4 Speakon connectors. The Artec 506A, 526A, 508A, and 510A provide female XLR inputs, a male loop thru XLR connector, and a male IEC AC input. The S15A subwoofer provides two female XLR inputs, two male XLR loop thru connectors, a PowerCon AC input and a PowerCon AC output.

‘The DAS Artec line has consistently been a solid performer and this new, second generation product line builds upon the strengths of the original product group,’ says DAS Audio Director of Marketing, Robert Giner. ‘By offering both powered and passive designs, the new Artec product line can effectively address more sound reinforcement applications than ever before – all the while offering today’s sound reinforcement professional or AV integrator a wide range of choices and exceptional value. I’m confident these new loudspeakers will find a home in many different environments.’
