L-Acoustics is High Lite of Chili Peppers tour
An extensive tour of Europe arena at the end of 2016, saw Czech rental company High Lite supply a combination of L-Acoustics K1, K2 and Kara systems for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Having first worked with the band in 2011, High Lite has been their chosen European PA supplier ever since: ‘We cooperated on a few projects with Narci Martinez, RHCP’s Production Manager, in 2010 and he experienced our hardworking approach and how seriously we take our responsibilities,’ says High Lite’s Michal Siska. ‘We were delighted that Narci chose us as PA supplier for their 2011 tour and that he has continued to put his trust in us.’
Last Night of the Electrics
Almost 50 years on stage and opening Live Aid in 1985, Status Quo are an inescapable part of rock history. They are also longstanding supporters of charities including The Prince’s Trust, the British Heart Foundation and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.
In early 2016 the band announced their final electric tour, The Last Night of the Electrics, calling on Capital Sound for an Outline GTO C-12 rig for the main FOH rig. Long-standing FOH engineer Andy May agreed to use the system following a recommendation from Dave Roden (who used it for The Stereophonics during the summer) and has subsequently taken to it.
Sawaguchi and Surround
Highly-regarded in Japan’s discerning music recording world, Mick Sawaguchi has a history of pioneering new techniques, and has been a strong advocate of surround over many years. In 2014, his recordings have moved to 9.1-channel surround – the configuration advocated as ideal for music by Auro 3D. This admits Sawaguchi to the exclusive club of multi-award-winning adopters of the format.
Tellingly, Morten Lindberg from 2L, Daniel Shores from Sono Luminus and Sawaguchi from Unamas are all users of Merging’s Pyramix 10, with Horus and Hapi networked audio interfaces.
Ibiza Classics makes dance transition to full live show
Pete Tong recently embarked on a series of Ibiza Classics live performances that took in the London O2 Arena, Manchester Arena and Glasgow Hydro. The gigs saw the DJ joined by the 65-piece Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley, and vocalists Jessie Ware, and Ella Eyre and John Newman performing selected tracks from their drum-and-bass collaboration as UK band Rudimental.
Taking dance music to a new level of live performance involved new thinking… and the discovery of MyMix Audio.
Fulcrum Acoustic subwoofers Thunder in Oklahoma
Oklahoma City’s premier large event venue, the Chesapeake Energy Arena is also home to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. Modernising its sound system for the Thunder’s 2016-17 season, it now has the first large-scale use of Fulcrum’s CS121 subwoofers and the NBA’s first permanent installation of EAW’s Anya adaptive-array system.
Designed by Marsh/PMK’s Jerrold Stevens and installed by Ford A/V, the advanced technology audio solution gives the Oklahoma City Thunder a sound to match their name. ‘The sound system needed excellent intelligibility, fidelity, output and bandwidth to enhance the overall fan experience and become more competitive with other NBA arenas,‘ Stevens explains.
