4000 Voices for Luther

Visiting 12 venues around Germany and attracting a total audience of more than 130,000, 4000 Voices for Luther marked the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The spectacular show featured a 4,000-strong choir, and sold out Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena with more than 11,000 spectators.

German public TV channel ZDF broadcast the recording of the Pop-Oratorio Luther on Reformation Day, 31 October, with audio managed by three Stage Tec mixing consoles with fully equipped DSP and a distributed audio network with 11 Base Devices.

Un Emozione senza fine

Marking the tenth anniversary of the death of Luciano Pavarotti, Un Emozione senza fine (An endless emotion) paid tribute to the world-famous tenor with a stellar cast including Placido Domingo, José Carreras and top Italian pop stars. Produced by Friends & Partners Group and the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, it was staged in the Verona Arena in Italy, and aired live in prime time nationwide on TV and radio.

Agorà of L’Aquila, the event’s audio and lighting contractor, used six DiGiCo mixing consoles at the event, manned by several of the country’s most respected engineers. At the FOH platform, Daniel Tramontani (audio chief and designer of the event’s complex set-up) and Marco Monforte, were supported by Francesco Passeri.

Golden Melody Awards

Recognising artists from China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, the Golden Melody Awards is the Chinese speaking territories’ pre-eminent music event and sets the regional standard for stage design, audio support, lighting and visuals.

For the Award’s 28th edition, Winly Engineering & Trading was tasked with designing and supplying an L-Acoustics sound reinforcement system that would provide superb coverage for the challenging environment of this year’s host venue, the Taipei Arena.

SNY

Moving to new studios located at the World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan, network broadcaster SportsNet New York (SNY) has re-equipped and upgraded its operation.

The move brings SNY two new audio control rooms, both using Solid State Logic System T networked audio broadcast production, and a fully redundant Dante Audio-over-IP Ethernet-based networking infrastructure. Each control room features a three-bay, 48-fader System T S500 control surface with dual touch screens and a pair of SSL Network I/O: SB 8.8 Dante stageboxes. Each controllers -s connected to dual-redundant T80 Tempest audio engines.

NightBird Recording Studios

Half a block off Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, in the basement complex of the luxurious Sunset Marquis Hotel sits NightBird Recording Studios. With state-of-the-art gear and a staff of A-list engineers who know how to use it, NightBird buzzes and hums at all hours. When the artists need to recharge, they swim, dine, drink or check in at the spa upstairs.

With client list that list includes Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Damian Marley, Joe Bonamassa, Kayne West, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Lionel Richie, Roger Waters, Skrillex and Sting, the latest arrival is ATC SCM150ASL Pro main monitor loudspeakers.
