Cantonese pop star Hins Cheung staged a concert at the Guangdong Stadium recently.
Ten years over since he last appeared in his hometown, he performed with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra as recognition of his fans’ support. In turn, Sennheiser supported his performance with a wide range of equipment, particularly the miking of the orchestra.
Cheung used his custom white and sliver SKM 5200 mic with Neumann KK 105 capsule and EM 3732 receiver for his vocals, while a selection of Sennheiser MKE 1, MKE 2, ME 104 and Neumann KM 184 microphones were used to capture the of the strings and Sennheiser’s e900 series was used for other orchestral insrunmnets.
A Sennheiser HSP 4 condenser head mic with SK 2000 belt pack and EM 2050 receiver were used for Cheung’s voice when he was performing.
The Guangdong concert performance follows the opening of Cheung’s own Village Studios project. Designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group, the facility is being described as China’s first true ‘destination’ recording studio and includes an orchestal recording stage.
