Hanoi College of Art
The Guangzhou Performance Theater and Hanoi College of Art are among recent Asia audio installations using DAS Audio loudspeaker systems.

In Vietnam, Hanoi’s College of Art in Hanoi has equipped its 200-capacity theatre with 12 DAS Aero 12A loudspeaker modules, flown six per side. Four DAS LX-218A sub-bass enclosures provide low-frequency support and are ground-stacked two units per side in an LR configuration. A DAS DSP-2060 processor handles system management.

‘As this is a multi-purpose venue that caters to a wide variety of performances – from rock bands to theatre productions – we required a system that was able to accommodate high SPL levels,’ says Nhu Noi, Technical Representative from Hoang Huy Co, the DAS Audio distributor in Hanoi. ‘Bearing in mind that this is an art school, students will be the system operators. A robust system like the Aero 12A satisfies these requirements and, given the space constraints we have, this system deliver the SPLs were seeking, without being visually distracting.’

Elsewhere in Hanoi, DAS Audio systems provided the sound reinforcement for a live event organised by Hoang Huy Co in conjunction with Nguyen Khai Rental Company – who recently acquired its first Aero system – its business partner in Hanoi. Twelve DAS Audio Aero 12A line array elements were used for the main system, with six modules flown on the right and left sides. Six DAS Aero 218 Sub subwoofers – ground-stacked with three enclosures per the right and left sides – provided low-frequency support. These sub-bass enclosures were driven by three DAS SLA-4000 stereo power amplifiers while a DAS DSP-2060 processor handled loudspeaker management tasks.

Guangzhou’s Performance TheaterThe system at Guangzhou’s Performance Theater includes 16 DAS Audio Aero 12A powered, two-way, mid-high line array modules flown eight elements per side. Compact 218 Sub subwoofers are ground-stacked in an LR configuration for low frequency reinforcement with Compact 2 (powered three-way, mid-high) enclosures used for front fill. Six SML-15A powered two-way stage monitors/full-range units are used to create a 3-D soundstage.

The system was configured to give the theatre a ‘punchy’ system capable of conveying sound effects and other audio elements in a realistic manner. Equally important was a high level of speech intelligibility to allow actors’ lines to be delivered with clarity over and above the effects and supporting elements. The loudspeakers were installed in such a way as to compliment the ornate character of the theater without being visually distracting.

‘DAS Audio and its various business partners are very encouraged by the recent events that have led to a number of DAS sound system deployments,’ says Eduardo Lopez, DAS Audio Asia’s Business Operations Manager. ‘I’m confident the business climate and the opportunities for our company will continue to expand.’
