Described as ‘an oasis in the skyscraper-packed city’, Seven Sisters is among the most fashionable venues in Beirut. The day-and-night hotspot is located on the waterfront in downtown Beirut, where patrons can relax in a green environment, watch a show in the outdoor area, chill out under a tree, or savour watch the sun set while having a drink at the bar or enjoying food from an international menu.

Seven SistersTo provide a ‘soundtrack’ to its events, the club enlisted local system integrator Sound Pressure Level to devise an audio a system able to withstand the outdoor waterfront environment and support DJ sets and live bands.

Headquartered in Beirut, SPL was founded in 1993 and has lengthy experience in touring, but and now focuses on audio installation and rental. Through its 24-7 service, the company has built up an enviable client portfolio, installing systems in theatres, cinemas, hotels, ballrooms, conference centres, clubs and pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls and places of worship.

At Seven Sisters, SPL turned to its catalogue of Outline loudspeakers to satisfy the venue’s requirements. The installation comprises 38 Eidos enclosures (ten Eidos 12s and 28 Eidos 10s), multi-purpose two-way full-range units equipped respectively with 12-inch and 10-inch loudspeakers, plus a compression driver and rotatable waveguide. Bottom end is guaranteed by eight Eidos 218 S subwoofers, particularly suited to reproducing the venue’s music, as their design provides not only extended low-frequency reproduction (down to 28Hz) but also punch in and around the frequencies normally produced by both acoustic and digital kick drums.

The system is driven by two Genius 24 digital loudspeaker management systems and powered by four T-Five amplifiers and five M5000-4 amplifiers, all manufactured by the Flero-based Italian company.

As well as the work by of Sound Pressure Level’s Elie Louaizi and Maya Louaizi, key roles were played in the Seven Sisters installation by Karim Mohamadieh (management and contracting) and Joe Ziadeh and Tony Hayek (power and electrics).
