Italian electropop band, The Kolors recently concluded their Kolors Live 2015 tour in Langhirano, at the prestigious Festival del Prosciutto di Parma – with the help of All Access and a Martin Audio MLA loudspeaker system.

The KolorsFormed in 2010 and led by Stash Fiordispino, the band secured the top spot in Italy’s best-selling albums with Out, and have been opening shows for international artists like Paolo Nutini, Hurts and Atoms for Peace.

For the festival event, All Access provided its MLA to Fare BIS Fare to be configured by PA manager Paul ‘Red’ Talami . The set-up comprised eight MLA elements (including an MLD Downfill) and four MLX subs per side. In addition, he added two MLA enclosures, stage right.

‘While the configuration was properly sized to cover an area of 70m x 50m the sold-out arena was ‘unbalanced’ on the PA right,’ he explains. ‘A wide area was beyond the coverage range of the main PA – stretching to over 120°– so I opted for a small secondary array of two MLA boxes, resting on an MLX sub to cover this area out to the right.’

This met the approval of the Kolors’ sound engineer, Gianmario Lussana: ‘I think the most appropriate description for this PA is ‘in your face’ – but not in a negative sense,’ he reports. ‘That’s exactly what it is. When you turn on this system your first reaction is to be afraid of it and instinctively you’ll run to turn it down! But this PA is a point-source style system, with a mid frequency range that is crisp and articulate.

‘He [Talmi] has achieved excellent coverage of the venue, fully taking into account the central walkway which brought Stash more than 4m forward from the proscenium. The result was great volume and in particular no feedback – everything you would expect from Martin Audio ‘s new generation of products. Now I’m curious to hear how it handles a nice electronic music festival or industrial metal event.’
