Empire DesignEmpire Design’s London postproduction studios have been equipped with Avid S6 and S3 control surfaces by HHB postproduction division, Scrub

Scrub supplied and installed a 16-fader S6 M40 in Empire’s Dolby approved, 5.1-equipped mixing suite, an S3 and Pro Tools software upgrades with a package that includes training and support., and reckons that the S6 gives him a new level of control over his sessions: ‘The design and feedback provided by the S6 is incredible,’ says Empire Senior Sound Engineer Sam Rowland, who has been working with Pro Tools for more than a decade. ‘The Master Touch Module gives you touchscreen control of critical editing functions from the center of the console and eliminates the need for a second monitor because everything is right in front of you with great visual indicators. I also love being able to grab a fader and adjust dynamics and EQ on the surface, just like an analogue console.’

The S6 M40 with additional display modules provides Empire with eight channels of high-resolution TFT displays per fader, while the S6 platform enables more modules to be added at a later time. ‘The S6 puts us at the leading edge of technology by significantly enhancing our workflow and speed,’ Rowland explains. ‘Scrub has been very helpful throughout the process and their Technical Support Engineers are a trusted source of knowledge that we can always rely on. It is very reassuring to have that level of support right on our doorstep.’

‘Empire’s Trailer Department creates a very high level of content and the S6 is the perfect system for work of this magnitude,’ says Scrub Sales’ Devin Workman. ‘Their facilities are very impressive and it is great to watch their success as they expand the audio department.’
