Appointing Tonspur AG as its exclusive distributor for Switzerland is the latest result of DiGiCo’s five-year involvement in the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Tonspur's Hansjürg Meier with James Bradley of DiGiCo‘We have been coordinating the audio for Montreux since 2007 and our first experience with DiGiCo was as the official console sponsor in 2009,’ says Tonspur owner, Hansjürg Meier. ‘We immediately realised that there was an enormous difference in sound quality, compared to other digital mixing desks. We were also really impressed by the flexibility of the consoles and the use of the latest technology, like FPGA processing, which minimised the physical footprint.’

Tonspur subsequently began selling the consoles to the Swiss and Liechtenstein markets in 2010 – acquring exclusive distribution for Switzerland was an obviousnext step: ‘DiGiCo is a proactive company, which has a trickle-down effect in terms of sales,’ Hansjürg says. ‘With the T versions of consoles, from the SD7T to the SD9T and SD10T, theatre productions can have the tools they really need. We already have two key rental customers investing in DiGiCo and the figure is set to rise.

‘We have also seen an increase in use in the professional installation market – the routing flexibility of DiGiCo consoles,’ he adds. ‘Tools like the UB Madi interface, DiGiGrid and Purple Box means we can satisfy all the needs of any serious audio production.’

Tonspur regularly invites audio professionals to an in-house seminar, allowing them to discuss the consoles they are using and the features they need: ‘We have feedback from the engineers, and the best thing is that DiGiCo listens,’ says Hansjürg. ‘We often see the wishes and hints passed through us implemented in the next software update.’

‘We like to work with companies that are as passionate about our products as we are. The team at Tonspur definitely are,’ says DiGiCo MD, James Gordon. ‘We’ve built up a close working relationship with them through our collaboration at Montreux and we know that they will help us gain more ground in Switzerland.’
