Taking an alternative approach to recording studio iventment, the boys behind Italy’s NUtone Lab had the small task of building their studio before they could get down to the business of enjoying their newly purchased Audient ASP4816 mixing console.

‘The 4816 is still in the box and believe us, it hurts,’ said co-owner Francesco Lenzi, in May 2012. He and partner Filippo Manni were ‘We can’t wait to put the console at the centre of the studio.’

Now the first ASP4816 to become operational in Italy, Lenzi and Manni have had the chance to get a feel for the console: ‘I can safely say we’re happy with our choice,’ Lenzi says. ‘The desk is extremely silent, very logically laid out and has great routing.

‘We have lots of outboard, hardware synths and drum machines, and the flexibility of the ASP4816 desk makes it easy to route signals around,’ he continues, having used it for recording and summing. ‘It has a very nice clean sound, the wider Q bell EQs are nice and musical; it has clean preamps, too.’
