An annual electronic music event held in Seattle, revellers at the Decibel Festival will find EAW’s KF740 line array system at front-of-house PA for headline events in the acoustically notorious Paramount Theater, as well as an Avalon by EAW dance club system in Neumos, where VIP parties will proceed five nights of performance and after-show parties.

‘Even though we’re a Massachusetts-based company, Decibel Festival is practically a hometown event,’ says EAW President. Jeff Rocha. ‘Obviously, Loud Technologies is in the Seattle area, but it goes deeper than that. A Loud employee is a founding member of the event. It’s not the first time we’ve talked to them, but it’s the first time we’ve made it work. I can’t wait. Hello, Seattle.’

Headline acts Orbital and Erykah Badu’s Cannabinoids will appear to the Paramount Theater, where tall, deep balcony section badly shadows the back half of the orchestra section and the vertical face of the balcony throws severe slap-back echo onto the stage.

To solve these problems, EAW has teamed up with Hall Audio Systems (the first EAW Red Certified company) to create a six-over-six split KF740 line array system. At left and right, arrays of six, ground-stacked KF740 modules will serve back of the orchestra section, while flown arrays of six KF740s cover the balcony. ASG Technical Training Director Bernie Broderick, who developed EAW’s Red Certification process, will oversee implementation.

Usually a rock club, Neumos will host the West Coast premiere of the Avalon by EAW dance club loudspeaker system. Developed in collaboration with John Lyons – dance club designer and owner of the Avalon Hollywood – Avalon by EAW pushes club loudspeaker design to a new level. The Neumos system uses four Club.two quad 12-inch mains and four Sub.two. Two Club.three systems, featuring a single 15-inch LF driver with 1.7kW peak power handling will serve as DJ monitors.

‘Neumos is designed to handle high-output sound reinforcement,’ Rocha says. “Or that’s what they tell me. We’re sending four Sub.twos. I guess we’ll find out.’
